Anniversary celebration weekend

Well, this year we did not celebrate our anniversary with some exotic vacation.  Just a quiet meal out at the Woodbridge Inn followed by a Broadway show!  Broadway show in North Georgia?!?!   Now before you start to worry that we’ve gotten all sophisticated, let me explain.  The local community theater group, the Tater Patch Players, put on a wild and witty Mel Brooks play, The Producers, filled with humor and sarcastic wit.  And they did it very well.  Mary was in tears laughing at this show.

Sometime Saturday night an unusual summer cold front made it’s way through Georgia.    So we decided to take advantage of the Mid-60’s temps by loading up the dogs and going for a hike.  For a while now Pete has wanted to see Brasstown Bald.  Brasstown Bald is the highest point in the Georgia, with a summit elevation of 4,784 feet.  The dogs definitely enjoyed the outing.  Tasha was a big hit with the kids.  And she loves them.  She is remarkably gently and moves slowly and carefully near the youngest children.  Bolo seemed to draw the attention of the adults.  Although he won over a few kids when he demonstrated a few tricks.

Sadly the weekend flew by and now it’s Monday and back to the regular work week.  Ha, Pete even has to work a full 5 days this week.  Pete’s normal work schedule is to work 9 hour days on Monday through Thursday; one week he works 8 hours on Friday the next week he gets Friday off (I think they call it the 9/80 work schedule?) .

Time to fix the pool

Our pool has more resembled the swamp not far from here so far this year.  The algae just wouldn’t go away.  Pete finally got aggravated enough that he drained the entire pool then scrubbed it down with algaecide.  We’re in several day process of refilling it now.  It’s really nice to see clean clear water in there!

Looks like another busy weekend coming up for us.  Mary has dog training Saturday AM while Pete is off to a benefit VW show in Ellijay with his 57 Beetle.  We also get to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary this weekend.  Then to top if off, Pete’s local Mustang club has a mountain run planned for Sunday.  Time to go play on the twisty roads!

Alabama Road Trip

Haven’t had much time to post lately… to bring y’all up to speed.

Pete’s been busy with house project after house project. And just finished installing a ceiling fan in the master bedroom, that will be nice during the summer.

Marys been taking Bolo over an hour away for some conformation classes. She’d like to enter him into a national conformation show next year, but he needs better training “gaiting” correctly around the ring.

And together we just got back from a quick road trip to Alabama. Below are a few pictures, more will be posted soon.

In between some shopping, we hung out with some real characters!

Last night was interesting.  Our neighbors were playing dueling fireworks.  Mary thought the dogs would be bothered by the excitement.  Neither were scared or nervous of the noise.  If anything Tasha seemed to be annoyed by the obvious breaking of the law and if we let her she was going to go put an end to whole thing.  Bolo wanted to join her once they set off a few whistling fireworks.  Since we were enjoying the light show, we didn’t let the dogs protest too much.
